Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar Plot + Spoilers

I know there are a lot of Nolan apologists out there, but his movies can be quite predictable. Interstellar, for one, might not even be about space travel.

According to Harry Knowles at Ain’t It Cool News, it’s a post-apocalyptic Earth, and NASA doesn’t exist anymore. So if humans don’t have the resources to rebuild a space program (and that’s A LOT of resources), then what’s next? The next best thing would be to dig.

I think Interstellar will be Nolan’s “Abyss”. It’ll be the movie James Cameron wishes he could make, because let’s face it, Cameron is out of touch. Avatar would have been more profound if it had come out 10 years earlier with it’s quality.

I think Interstellar is about human spirit. Back in those old-timey movies, it was about exploration and travel. Kinda like the space race.

I suspect the last scene in the movie will be Matthew Mcconaughey busting up through the surface in his drilling machine ship, and he emerges surrounded by Chinese. His face is covered in dirt and soot and he utters something about, “How do you say toilet in Chinese?”
