True 4K resolution Blu-rays are coming

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=14923

My god, why? I’m just getting used to standard HD (720p or 1080p). Now they want to sell us 3840 × 2160p x 60fps. Sure, things will look more lifelike, but I can’t imagine anyone having the time to appreciate it. People work, people are busy, they really don’t give a rat’s ass about ALL THAT RESOLUTION. Who really needs that kind of resolution besides feds and surveillance junkies? Even porn failed to sell this new tech, and they even tried 3D HD!

Well, we’ll see. It’s becoming more like, who cares? Try telling a decent story for a change rather than just peddling a better looking picture.

I was able to play it on a PlayStation 3 (PS3) a year ago when I first purchased the BD, but after the PS3’s firmware was updated, Basic Instinct failed to playback. It doesn’t run on a PC player either. (more…)
